ROPS and Seatbelts

Whereas history has shown the effectiveness of roll-over protective structures in virtually eliminating fatalities in accident situation where ROPS and seatbelts were used as recommended;

Whereas farmers and farm families need to be made more aware of these benefits and encouraged to use ROPS and seatbelts;

Be it therefore resolved...

...that the National Institute for Farm Safety, Inc., encourages the use of a statement on manufacturer's product literature which will warn of the possible consequences of not using ROPS and seatbelts;

And, be it further resolved...

...that the actual statement read as follows: “The National Institute for Farm Safety advises that statistics show the severity of injuries has been greatly reduced and fatalities practically eliminated through use of seat belts and ROPS when misuse or operator error cause a tractor overturn.”
