Master Power Take-Off Shield

Whereas on many tractors in current use, the owner or operator has removed the master shield from the power take-off shaft;

Whereas such removal can and often has resulted in serious injuries and/or death;

Whereas these accidents have occurred in the presence of warning decals on the tractor and safety admonitions in the operator's manual;

Be it therefore resolved...

...that the National Institute for Farm Safety, Inc., recommend to tractor manufacturers that they consider the design and use of a tractor power take-off master shield that will permit ready access to the PTO stub shaft for attachment of the drive line and yet ensure complete coverage of the stub shaft when the drive line is removed.
