Slow Moving Vehicle (SMV) Emblem (1)

Be it resolved that the National Institute for Farm Safety, Inc., recognizes that numerous studies and tests have evaluated and supported various applications of reflections, flags and lights as aids to the identification of SMV's (slow moving vehicles) on the highway.

The Institute commends recent research conducted at Ohio State University which led to the development of the triangular SMV (slow moving vehicle) emblem.

The Institute recommends the use of this emblem on a trial basis in order for additional field tests to be conducted so that its merits can be fully established on a practical basis.

The Institute also commends the Farm Conference of the National Safety Council, the Safety Committee of ASAE (American Society of Agricultural Engineers), the Subcommittee on Lighting of FEI (Farm Equipment Institute) among other groups for their continuing interest in the use of this emblem.
